Did you know that you can post your sale for free on the City of Dallas Web site at http://garagesale.dallascityhall.com? You also will find guidelines to help plan a successful sale and avoid citations or fines along the way. Here’s a few helpful tips:
Don’t place signs:
1) at any other location remote from the sale property;
2) in a manner that interferes with pedestrian or vehicular traffic;
3) on any utility or telephone pole;
4) on any tree that is located on any public right-of way; and
5) on any public property, public structure or public building.
Residents may hold up to two garage sales during a 12-month period. The garage sale may last no longer than three consective days and must occur inside a building, garage or patio. Any type of item may be sold at the garage sale except items made, produced, or acquired solely for the purpose of resale. Residents not complying with the ordinance may receive a citation punishable by a fine of $200 - $2,000 for each day the violation exists. Violations of the ordinance may be reported by calling 3-1-1.

The developers of Preston Highlands created deed restrictions to ensure a uniform neighborhood plan and protect long-term property values. Before you do ANYTHING, consult Preston Highlands deed restrictions and submit an Architectural Review Committee form. BE KIND ... DON'T BLOW IT! DID YOU KNOW? YOUR SIDEWALK IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY! Many sidewalks are in dire need of repair in Preston Highlands! Neighbors enjoy an evening walk or morning jog, and it’s no fun taking a tumble on a bad sidewalk. It’s YOUR responsibility to maintain sidewalk in front of your home. Repairs may be done by the property owner or a private contractor provided a permit is issued by the City of Dallas Permit Center, 320 E. Jefferson, (214) 948-4480. The City of Dallas Public Works and Transportation Department has a cost/share program to assist with the replacement of sidewalks, curbs and drive approaches.
